The GI-50A triode is used as a wide-band signal amplifier with a peak output power of up to 2 MW at frequencies up to 170 MHz.

Cathode: directly heated, carbonized thoriated tungsten.
Envelope: metal-ceramic with outer copper anode and ring leads of cathode and grid.
